Words Are Power: The power of friendship

When it seems that friendship is conditional, you should question whether it is really friendship. We are all sovereign entities with disparate ideas and beliefs. True friendships exist beyond ideas, and beliefs, though. Beyond differences of opinion over ephemeral matters bound by time and space.

We have all experienced the knowing of the moment, when engaged by the essence of another and recognizing a sympatico soul encased in othered flesh. These friends are of the spirit, resonant with our deepest understandings of life and love. These are those with whom no time passes between instances of physical bonding, knowledge of self through another is implicit.

Other friendships are built over time and mutual experience that binds souls in shared sympathy, common, perceptive engagement and cause. These connections can become strong over time but are not the experience of twinned essences. The loyalty occasioned by these interactions is real and can be as binding as the afore-mentioned example.

Still other friendships are ephemeral and limited by time and space to particular instances and peculiar circumstances and come and go like the breeze, wafting through life just as suddenly and refreshingly. All are real experiences of the Other as Self and occasion deeper considerations of the nature of synchronicity and existence itself.

The conditions that fracture connection, often being situated in happenstance, should result in deep reflection about the nature of our relations. Not everyone should…
