The Cult of I on High

There are no mechanisms, in societies in general, to remove functional psychopaths — who have undeniably confirmed their mental state to the world by their words and actions — from power. When such an avatar rises to ultimate power, what is shown is that their mental state is mirrored in their constituency.

This is an ancient issue of power and control and a function of civilization as we know it, dawning in the earliest eras of human collective habitation. Cities are relics of war, designed to protect kin groups and wealth, production capacity and vital interests and functional psychopaths invariably rise to the top in situations of unease, dynamic change and conflict.

Organization of cities into regional power-houses and then nations act to distill successful leaders from the population. Leaders who are able to keep the people safe and accurately communicate the collective aims of the representative population achieve accordingly.

Our most recent American experience reveals once more the nature of the most powerful segment of our population, the white middle and upper class. In 2016 and 2020, Trump amassed a higher proportion of the white vote at 54% and 57%, respectively. He actually got even more of the white vote the second time around, after 4 years of collective global horror and national embarrassment.
