Fear and the Splitting of the Worlds

It’s fine to totally not get where another person is coming from. We are experiencing something akin to a “Splitting of the Worlds”. It is supposed to be this way, apparently.

While, on the surface, it may seem like people are moving further apart, what we are experiencing collectively is more of a crystallization of opinion. A coalescence of meaning around polar oppositional stances. Social Media and the 24/7 news cycle have exacerbated this differentiation between newly-revealed worlds of people whose only shared understanding center around a fear of some sort. So what are these stances?

A fear of government control (conspiracies around government, politics, economics, race, culture, etc.).

A fear of Covid-19, illness and death (fear of the unvaccinated, total belief in government and institutional dictates).

While both broad and inclusive sets of fears have a firm and undeniable basis in reality, the extent to which they both rely upon emotion rather than sober, rational thought puts them in the same category of fear-based paranoia. So, rather than being two separate tribes — people who believe totally what government tells then and people who don’t believe anything government tells them — both sides are part of the same world. A world based upon a system doomed to destruction and they are both orbiting the same, fear-based star of doubt, lies and mental enslavement.
